HiLung specializes in developing and commercializing proprietary human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived bronchial and alveolar cells as well as advanced lung organoid technologies. Their core business provides highly physiologically relevant human-origin platforms to accelerate the discovery of new therapeutics targeting a wide range of acute and chronic respiratory diseases. The company’s lead partnered therapeutic candidate, HL001—a novel selective lysophosphatidic acid receptor antagonist—is being co-developed with Ube Industries for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis; it was expected to enter clinical trials by March 2024. HiLung’s scalable technologies also support toxicology testing, target identification, lead optimization, patient stratification studies, and have long-term ambitions toward regenerative therapies such as lung transplantation using their engineered tissues.
