Company intelligence / Profile preview
Hoechst Japan was the Japanese subsidiary of the German life sciences and chemical conglomerate Hoechst AG. The company maintained a significant presence in the Japanese pharmaceutical market, focusing on therapeutic areas such as endocrinology, cardiology, and infectious diseases. It was responsible for the development and commercialization of key products including insulin therapies and cardiovascular medications within the region. In 1999, following the global merger of Hoechst AG and Rhône-Poulenc to form Aventis, Hoechst Japan's operations were consolidated into Aventis Pharma Japan. This entity was later integrated into Sanofi following the 2004 merger between Aventis and Sanofi-Synthélabo. Today, the legacy of Hoechst Japan continues through Sanofi's extensive operations and product portfolio in the Japanese healthcare sector.
