Company intelligence / Profile preview
Hoechst Products Nigeria was the local subsidiary of the German multinational Hoechst AG, serving as a prominent player in the Nigerian pharmaceutical and chemical sectors. The company specialized in the manufacturing and distribution of essential medicines, including anti-infectives and analgesics, as well as industrial chemicals. In 1995, Hoechst AG divested its majority stake in the company as part of a global restructuring, leading to its rebranding as Nigerian German Chemicals (NGC) PLC. Following the divestment, the company operated independently, maintaining a significant manufacturing presence in Ota, Nigeria. Although the Hoechst brand was later integrated into Sanofi globally, the Nigerian entity remained a distinct corporate body until it encountered financial difficulties and entered receivership in recent years.
