Hong Kong Universal Vaccine (HKUV) is a biotechnology company spun off from the Centre for Virology, Vaccinology, and Therapeutics (CVVT) and The University of Hong Kong. Established in 2023, the company is dedicated to developing a novel live-attenuated vaccine platform to provide safe and effective protection against various respiratory diseases. Through its subsidiary, Canthevac, HKUV utilizes its proprietary Interferon-integrated Vaccine Platform (IVP) to design vaccines that integrate interferon to stimulate robust B-cell and T-cell immune responses. Its pipeline includes IBIS, a pre-clinical vaccine candidate designed to provide cross-protection against SARS-CoV-like viruses, alongside programs targeting respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and therapeutic cancer vaccines for non-small cell lung, pancreatic, and colorectal cancers.
