Overview
Hopec Pharma is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on transforming the treatment of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). The company's lead candidate, HOPEC (also known as UPEC-FimON or DOR-100), is a first-in-class intravesical immunotherapy utilizing a genetically modified, formaldehyde-inactivated uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) strain. This engineered bacterium selectively binds to mannose-rich receptors overexpressed on bladder cancer cells, triggering a localized immune response that recruits T cells and natural killer (NK) cells to eliminate the tumor. Designed as a safer, more effective, and highly scalable alternative to Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) therapy, HOPEC is currently being evaluated in Phase 1a/1b clinical trials in Israel.
