Hormon-Chemie

Hormon-Chemie München was a German pharmaceutical company founded in Munich in 1945. As one of Germany's first post-WWII insulin manufacturers, the company developed a strong reputation in endocrinology, wound care, and cardiovascular health. Its notable products included Actovegin (a deproteinized calf blood hemodialysate used for stroke and circulatory disorders), Eicosapen (an omega-3 fatty acid preparation), and various collagen-based wound sealing materials. In 1990, Hormon-Chemie was acquired by the Norwegian pharmaceutical group Hafslund Nycomed (later Nycomed, which was subsequently acquired by Takeda). The company's legacy lives on through products like Actovegin and TachoSil, which evolved from their early collagen wound-sealing technology.
