Company intelligence / Profile preview
Hospira, now a subsidiary of Pfizer, was a global leader in injectable drugs and infusion technologies and a pioneer in the development of biosimilars. The company specialized in generic injectable pharmaceuticals, providing a vast portfolio of acute-care and oncology medicines. Hospira was instrumental in bringing the first biosimilar monoclonal antibody, Inflectra (infliximab), to the United States market. Following its acquisition by Pfizer in 2015 for approximately $17 billion, its operations were integrated into Pfizer's Essential Health and Injectables units. Today, the Hospira legacy continues through Pfizer's extensive portfolio of sterile injectables and biosimilar products.
