Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast

Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast was a Florida nonprofit hospice and palliative care provider serving Citrus County and a broader Nature Coast service area with home hospice, inpatient hospice, bereavement, and related end-of-life support services. The organization operated a freestanding inpatient hospice facility in Lecanto and provided interdisciplinary care through nurses, physicians, aides, chaplains, and social workers. It was not a drug-development biotech or pharma company; rather, it was a healthcare delivery organization focused on hospice and palliative services for terminally ill patients and families. In September 2018, VITAS Healthcare announced the asset acquisition of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast and began operating the former service area and facilities. The legacy entity appears to have been absorbed into VITAS operations rather than continuing as an independent active company.
