Hospital Professor Doutor Fernando Fonseca (HFF), commonly known as Hospital Amadora-Sintra, is a major public healthcare institution located in Amadora, Portugal. Established in 1995, it serves a densely populated region of approximately 600,000 inhabitants in the municipalities of Amadora and Sintra. The hospital operates as a Public Business Entity (EPE) within the Portuguese National Health Service (SNS) and provides a wide array of specialized medical services, including emergency care, oncology, and cardiology. HFF is also a significant center for clinical research and medical education, maintaining strong ties with major Portuguese medical universities. It was notably the first hospital in Portugal to operate under a public-private partnership model before transitioning to full public management in 2009.
