Hospital Supply Company

American Hospital Supply was a major U.S. healthcare products and hospital supplies company founded in 1922 by Foster G. McGaw. The company built a broad business supplying hospitals with medical, surgical, laboratory, sterilization, and related healthcare products, and became a leading hospital supply distributor and manufacturer. It was acquired by Baxter Travenol in 1985, after which its businesses were integrated into Baxter and later associated with subsequent corporate restructurings and spinouts. It was not a biotech drug developer and did not operate a clinical pipeline in the modern sense; rather, it was a commercial-stage healthcare products and distribution company serving hospitals and health systems.
