Overview
Hoxworth Blood Center is the oldest operating blood bank in the United States, serving over 30 hospitals in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana. It collects, tests, processes, and distributes blood and blood components for routine and emergency care, and is a recognized leader in transfusion medicine, cellular therapy, and transplantation immunology. In 2023, Hoxworth began using the FDA-approved Reveos machine to separate whole blood into platelets, plasma, red cells, and white cells in a single centrifugation, increasing efficiency and therapeutic options for cancer and other patients[3].
