Company intelligence / Profile preview
HUB Organoids is a Netherlands-based organoid technology company focused on patient-derived, adult stem cell-derived organoid models for drug discovery, translational research, and precision medicine. The company commercialized foundational organoid IP originating from the Hubrecht ecosystem and built a large biobank plus service business spanning drug screening, custom assay development, and co-clinical “clinical trials in a dish” applications. Its platform is used across oncology, immuno-oncology, inflammatory disease, genetic disease, infectious disease, and toxicology to improve preclinical predictivity and patient stratification. HUB transitioned from a foundation to a private company structure in 2023 and was acquired by the Life Science business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, with closing completed in late 2024. The company remains active from Utrecht as part of Merck’s next-generation biology portfolio.
