Human Biologicals Institute

Human Biologicals Institute (HBI) is a prominent biotechnology division of Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL), established to address critical public health needs through the development of affordable vaccines. The institute is best known for its flagship product, Abhayrab, which was the first indigenous tissue-culture-based anti-rabies vaccine in India and has become one of the most widely used rabies vaccines globally. HBI operates advanced manufacturing facilities in Ooty and Hyderabad, specializing in the production of essential pediatric and adult vaccines including DPT, Tetanus Toxoid, and Hepatitis B. As a key contributor to India's Universal Immunization Programme, HBI focuses on high-volume production of WHO-prequalified biologicals for both domestic and international markets.
