Hungarian government national vaccine plant

The National Vaccine Plant is a state-owned pharmaceutical facility in Debrecen, Hungary, established to secure the country's domestic vaccine supply. The project was accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic to develop and manufacture a proprietary Hungarian coronavirus vaccine. Beyond COVID-19, the plant is designed to produce seasonal influenza vaccines and other essential immunizations. It functions as a strategic asset for national health security, leveraging partnerships with the University of Debrecen for research and development. The facility aims to provide a flexible manufacturing platform capable of responding to future pandemic threats while ensuring independence from international supply chains.
