Company intelligence / Profile preview
I-Coat AB was a Swedish biotechnology company that developed advanced surface modification technologies for medical devices and clinical applications. The company's core expertise lay in the covalent attachment of heparin to various surfaces, creating a biocompatible layer that mimics the natural vascular endothelium. This technology, known as the Corline Heparin Surface (CHS), is designed to prevent blood clotting and inflammatory reactions when medical devices come into contact with blood. Founded as a spin-off from Uppsala University, I-Coat AB's innovations were aimed at improving outcomes in vascular surgery and interventional cardiology. In 2005, the company was acquired by Corline Biomedical AB, which has since expanded the application of the technology into organ transplantation and regenerative medicine.
