i3 Research was a leading global contract research organization (CRO) that provided comprehensive clinical development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries. Originally established as a division of Ingenix (a UnitedHealth Group company), i3 Research distinguished itself through a therapeutic specialization model, focusing on high-complexity areas such as oncology, neuroscience, and cardiovascular disease. The company was recognized for its rigorous quality standards, including the implementation of Six Sigma methodologies in clinical trial management. In 2011, i3 Research was acquired by inVentiv Health for approximately $400 million, and following the 2017 merger between inVentiv and INC Research, its operations were integrated into what is now Syneos Health.
