IAF Biovac was a prominent Canadian vaccine manufacturer and biotechnology company based in Laval, Quebec. Originally established as the commercial arm of the Institut Armand-Frappier, the company specialized in the development and large-scale production of influenza vaccines and other biologics. It was a primary supplier of the flu vaccine to the Canadian government and operated as a significant contract manufacturing organization (CMO) for the global life sciences industry. The company was acquired by Shire Pharmaceuticals in 1999, and its assets were later integrated into ID Biomedical and eventually GSK. Today, the former IAF Biovac facilities serve as a cornerstone of GSK's global vaccine manufacturing infrastructure.
