IASIS Healthcare was a leading owner and operator of medium-sized acute care hospitals in high-growth urban and suburban markets across the United States. Headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee, the company managed a network of approximately 18 hospitals and one behavioral health facility, totaling over 3,600 licensed beds. In addition to its hospital operations, IASIS operated Health Choice, a diversified managed care risk platform providing Medicaid and Medicare services. The company was acquired by Steward Health Care System in September 2017 for approximately $1.9 billion, creating the largest private for-profit hospital operator in the U.S. at the time.
