ICCBBA is an international nonprofit standards organization that develops, manages, and licenses the ISBT 128 Standard for medical products of human origin. Its work focuses on globally harmonized terminology, unique identification, coding, labeling, and electronic data exchange for products such as blood, cells, tissues, organs, milk, and related human-derived medical products. The organization serves healthcare providers, regulators, software vendors, and product vendors rather than operating a therapeutic drug pipeline. ICCBBA’s core business is standards development, education, registration and licensing, and support for global traceability and patient safety. It operates in official relations with the World Health Organization and supports adoption of its standard across dozens of countries and thousands of facilities worldwide.
