Company intelligence / Profile preview
Iconix Pharmaceuticals (later known as Iconix Biosciences) was a pioneer in the field of chemogenomics, providing predictive toxicology and drug safety assessment services to the pharmaceutical industry. The company developed the DrugMatrix database, one of the world's largest chemogenomic libraries, which contains gene expression data from tissues of animals treated with thousands of known drugs and toxicants. By using its DrugSignatures technology, Iconix enabled drug developers to predict potential side effects and mechanisms of toxicity early in the discovery process. The company's platform allowed for the identification of biomarkers and the characterization of drug mechanisms of action through genomic profiling. Iconix was acquired by Entelos in 2007 to integrate its genomic data with Entelos' physiological modeling systems.
