Company intelligence / Profile preview
ID Biomedical was a prominent biotechnology company specializing in the development and manufacture of vaccines for infectious diseases. Based in Canada, the company was a primary supplier of influenza vaccines to the Canadian government through its Fluviral product line. A key differentiator for the company was its proprietary Proteosome technology, a platform designed to enhance the immune response and enable intranasal delivery of vaccines. In 2005, ID Biomedical was acquired by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for approximately $1.4 billion USD. This acquisition allowed GSK to significantly expand its global vaccine manufacturing capacity and establish a strong foothold in the North American influenza market.
