Company intelligence / Profile preview
IDM Biotechnology was a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative cancer immunotherapies. The company's lead product, Mepact (mifamurtide), was a breakthrough treatment for osteosarcoma, becoming the first new therapy in over 20 years to demonstrate a significant survival benefit for patients with the disease. IDM's technology portfolio included cell-based therapies, such as its Macrophage Activated Killer (MAK) cells and dendritic cell vaccines, as well as synthetic immunomodulators. The company was formed through the merger of the French firm IDM S.A. and the US-based Epimmune Inc., operating with a dual presence in Paris and California. In 2009, IDM was acquired by Millennium Pharmaceuticals, the oncology subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, for approximately $75 million.
