IG Laboratories

IG Laboratories was a leading provider of genetic testing services, specializing in the detection of inherited diseases and chromosomal abnormalities. Originally established as the clinical testing arm of Integrated Genetics, the company became a prominent independent entity before being fully integrated into Genzyme Corporation in 1994. Its service portfolio included prenatal screening, oncology diagnostics, and carrier testing for conditions such as cystic fibrosis. The company's expertise in DNA-based diagnostics helped set the standard for clinical genetic testing in the 1980s and 1990s. Following its acquisition, it became the foundation of Genzyme Genetics, which was eventually sold to LabCorp in 2010.
