The company was a pioneer of the "iTOPS" (Integrated Technology and Operations) model, which integrated IT consulting with operational outsourcing to deliver business outcomes. Through its subsidiary, iGATE Clinical Research, the firm operated as a full-service Contract Research Organization (CRO), managing Phase II-IV clinical trials for global pharmaceutical and biotech sponsors. Headquartered in New Jersey with extensive delivery centers in India, iGATE was a major player in the clinical research outsourcing market until its acquisition. In 2015, the company was acquired by the French consulting giant Capgemini for approximately $4 billion, leading to the full integration of its operations and the retirement of the iGATE brand.
