Imaca (Imaging and Characterization) was a specialized contract research organization (CRO) that provided advanced medical imaging services for clinical trials. Founded as a spin-off from the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC Utrecht) in the Netherlands, the company focused on the application of MRI, CT, and PET imaging in drug development. Imaca offered comprehensive imaging core lab services, including protocol design, image analysis, and data management for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. The company was particularly known for its expertise in musculoskeletal and cardiovascular imaging. In 2010, Imaca was acquired by BioClinica (now part of Clario) to enhance its global imaging capabilities.
