Overview
Imara developed tovinontrine (IMR-687), a selective PDE9 inhibitor, as an oral therapy for sickle cell disease and beta thalassemia. The drug failed Phase 2b trials in both indications, leading to discontinuation of its development and significant layoffs. The company subsequently sold the asset to Cardurion Pharmaceuticals and merged with Enliven Therapeutics. Another preclinical program targeting Nrf2 was also discontinued. No active clinical programs remain under the Imara name post-merger.
