IMBcom

IMBcom was the dedicated commercialization company for the Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) at the University of Queensland, Australia. Established in 2000, the company focused on translating academic research into commercial outcomes through intellectual property management, licensing, and the creation of spin-out companies. IMBcom was instrumental in launching several successful biotechnology firms, including Protagonist Therapeutics and Spinifex Pharmaceuticals, which focused on peptide therapeutics and pain management respectively. The organization managed a diverse portfolio of assets across therapeutic areas such as inflammation, oncology, and infectious diseases. In 2010, IMBcom's operations were integrated into UniQuest, the University of Queensland's primary technology transfer office, to centralize and streamline the university's commercialization efforts.
