Company intelligence / Profile preview
IMC Global was a leading American producer of agricultural fertilizers, specifically potash and phosphate, before its merger to form The Mosaic Company. Historically known as the International Minerals and Chemical Corporation, the company played a critical role in the global crop nutrition industry. In 2004, IMC Global merged with the crop nutrition business of Cargill to create Mosaic, which became one of the world's largest producers of concentrated phosphate and potash. While the company operated in the broader life sciences sector through agricultural productivity, it was not a biotechnology or pharmaceutical firm focused on human therapeutics.
