iMDx

iMDx, officially known as Intelligent Medical Devices, was a molecular diagnostics company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, that specialized in the development of automated PCR-based assays. The company's core expertise lay in its proprietary platform for the rapid design and validation of molecular diagnostic tests targeting infectious diseases. iMDx focused significantly on healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), producing FDA-cleared and CE-marked assays for pathogens such as MRSA, C. difficile, and Group B Streptococcus. These assays were designed for use on high-throughput real-time PCR instruments, providing clinical laboratories with streamlined workflows and rapid results. In 2017, the company was acquired by Bio-Rad Laboratories, which integrated iMDx's technology and assay portfolio into its own clinical diagnostics division.
