iMEDD

iMEDD was a biotechnology company focused on the development of implantable drug delivery systems using micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and nanotechnology. Its flagship technology, the Nano-gate (or Nano-channel Delivery System), was designed to provide controlled, constant-rate release of therapeutic agents, including proteins and small molecules, over extended periods. The company's platform aimed to improve patient compliance and therapeutic outcomes by eliminating the need for frequent injections for chronic conditions. By providing steady-state drug levels, iMEDD's technology sought to reduce side effects associated with peak-and-trough dosing. In 2005, the company's core Nano-gate technology was acquired by the Swiss biopharmaceutical group Debiopharm.
