Impax Specialty Pharma was the branded pharmaceutical division of Impax Laboratories, focused on developing and commercializing treatments for central nervous system disorders. The company's primary therapeutic focus was on Parkinson's disease, highlighted by its lead commercial product, Rytary, an extended-release formulation of carbidopa and levodopa. In addition to its internal development programs, the division managed a portfolio of promoted products including Zomig for migraine management. The company utilized proprietary drug delivery technologies to create differentiated specialty products with improved efficacy and safety profiles. In May 2018, Impax Laboratories completed a multi-billion dollar merger with Amneal Pharmaceuticals. Following the merger, Impax Specialty Pharma's assets and operations were integrated into Amneal's specialty business segment.
