Overview

IMPRA, Inc. is a pioneering medical device company that specialized in the development and manufacture of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) vascular grafts. Founded in 1974 in Tempe, Arizona, the company became a major competitor in the vascular surgery market, notably launching the first commercially available ePTFE graft for arteriovenous access. IMPRA was at the center of a landmark, decades-long patent dispute with W. L. Gore & Associates over the invention of ePTFE vascular technology. The company was acquired by C. R. Bard in 1996 and subsequently became part of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) in 2017. Today, the IMPRA brand remains a leader in the vascular graft market, offering advanced products like the Carboflo carbon-impregnated grafts for patients with peripheral vascular disease and those requiring hemodialysis access.
