Indiana Finance Authority

The Indiana Finance Authority (IFA) is a quasi-governmental body established by the Indiana General Assembly to oversee state debt issuance and provide cost-effective financing for infrastructure and community projects. While not a traditional life sciences company, the IFA is a major player in the healthcare sector through its role in issuing tax-exempt bonds for hospitals, health systems, and senior living facilities. It was formed in 2005 by merging several entities, including the Indiana Health Facility Financing Authority, to consolidate the state's financing activities. Beyond healthcare, the IFA manages the State Revolving Fund (SRF) programs, which provide low-interest loans for water and wastewater infrastructure projects that protect public health. The authority serves as a critical financial partner for Indiana's medical and research institutions, enabling large-scale capital improvements and facility expansions.
