Company intelligence / Profile preview
INEOS Silicas was a prominent global manufacturer of specialty silicas and zeolites, serving the pharmaceutical, personal care, and industrial markets. The company provided high-purity silica products used as pharmaceutical excipients, specifically as glidants and carriers to improve drug formulation and stability. In the life sciences sector, it was well-known for producing silica-based stationary phases used in liquid chromatography for the purification of active pharmaceutical ingredients. Its oral care portfolio included dental silicas used as abrasive and thickening agents in toothpaste. Originally the Crosfield business of Unilever, it was acquired by INEOS in 2001 and subsequently sold to PQ Corporation in 2008. The business played a critical role in the supply chain for both small molecule drug manufacturing and consumer healthcare products.
