Ingenex

Ingenex was a pioneering biotechnology company founded in 1991 to develop gene therapy products for cancer and genetic diseases using retroviral vector technology. The company's lead research focused on chemoprotection, specifically delivering the MDR1 (multidrug resistance) gene to hematopoietic stem cells to protect cancer patients from the toxic side effects of high-dose chemotherapy. Additionally, Ingenex worked on gene replacement therapies for lysosomal storage disorders such as Gaucher disease. The company was acquired by Titan Pharmaceuticals in 1997, which integrated the Ingenex gene delivery platform into its own therapeutic development pipeline.
