Inicure

Inicure is a preclinical-stage Swedish biotechnology company focused on developing novel host-directed anti-infective therapies to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Spun off from Pronoxis AB in 2024, the company is developing patent-protected, water-soluble small molecule agonists of the Formyl Peptide Receptor 1 (FPR1). Rather than directly targeting bacteria, Inicure's compounds activate the host's innate immune system, stimulating the NOX2 pathway to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) for bacterial clearance and inflammation resolution. This unique mechanism of action significantly reduces the risk of resistance development. The company's pipeline targets high-burden indications, including chronic wound infections and severe urinary tract infections (such as pyelonephritis) caused by pathogens like MRSA and UPEC.
