InnerPulse was a medical technology company focused on developing a novel percutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator (PICD) for patients at risk of sudden cardiac arrest. The company's core innovation was an intravascularly-placed defibrillation system designed to be implanted via a minimally invasive catheter-based procedure. This approach aimed to eliminate the need for a surgical pocket and traditional transvenous leads, potentially reducing long-term complications associated with conventional ICDs. By moving the device components into the vasculature, InnerPulse sought to provide a less invasive alternative for cardiac rhythm management. In December 2010, the company was acquired by Boston Scientific to bolster its portfolio of rhythm management and heart failure technologies.
