The company developed the PRESERFLO MicroShunt® (formerly known as the InnFocus MicroShunt®), a minimally invasive glaucoma drainage device made from SIBS biomaterial. Clinical trials demonstrated significant and sustained reductions in intraocular pressure for up to three years post-surgery, with many patients able to discontinue glaucoma medications. The pivotal U.S. trial was a prospective randomized study comparing the device to trabeculectomy. Over 200 patients were treated outside the U.S., with results showing mean IOP reduction from ~25 mm Hg on medication to <15 mm Hg off medication after three years. As of acquisition by Santen in August 2016, final phase clinical trials were ongoing for FDA approval.
