Innovacor

InnovaCor was a biotechnology company focused on developing gene therapies for the treatment of congestive heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases. The company's lead programs utilized adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors to deliver therapeutic genes to the heart, specifically targeting the phospholamban (PLN) pathway to improve cardiac function. Founded by researchers from the University of Utah, InnovaCor aimed to address the underlying molecular causes of heart failure rather than just managing symptoms. In 2017, the company was acquired by Audentes Therapeutics to bolster their pipeline in large-market cardiovascular indications. Following the acquisition, its lead program was integrated into the Audentes (and subsequently Astellas) portfolio as AT466.
