Innovative Discovery Centre

The Innovative Discovery Centre (IDC) is the core new drug discovery and development wing of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, one of the world's largest specialty generic pharmaceutical companies. Based in India, the IDC focuses on creating a pipeline of innovative branded products, including New Chemical Entities (NCEs) and New Biological Entities (NBEs), across therapeutic areas such as dermatology, ophthalmology, and oncology. The center manages the entire drug discovery process from target identification and lead optimization to clinical development. Notable successes originating from or supported by this research infrastructure include the development of Ilumya (tildrakizumab) and other specialty brands that have transitioned Sun Pharma from a generic-focused firm to a global specialty player.
