Innovene was a major global petrochemical, polymers, and refining company that operated as a subsidiary of BP before being spun off and subsequently acquired. The company specialized in the production of olefins and derivatives, including polyethylene and polypropylene, which are essential components in a vast array of industrial and consumer products. At its peak, Innovene was one of the largest petrochemical companies in the world, with significant manufacturing assets across North America and Europe. In 2005, the company was acquired by the INEOS Group for approximately $9 billion, leading to its integration into INEOS's broader chemical portfolio.
