InnoVention Technologies is a biotechnology company that specializes in the development of immune-protective encapsulation technologies for cell-based therapies. Spun out from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the company was co-founded by renowned researchers Dr. Robert Langer and Dr. Daniel Anderson. Its primary focus is the treatment of Type 1 diabetes through the transplantation of insulin-producing islet cells that are shielded from the patient's immune system. This proprietary technology aims to provide a functional cure for diabetes without the requirement for long-term immunosuppressive drugs. In 2018, the company was acquired by Novo Nordisk to integrate its platform into Novo's stem cell research and development pipeline.
