INO Therapeutics

INO Therapeutics was a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on critical care therapeutics, best known for commercializing INOmax, an inhaled nitric oxide therapy used in neonates with hypoxic respiratory failure associated with pulmonary hypertension. The company combined a gaseous drug with proprietary delivery systems and hospital support services, making it effectively a drug-device business in neonatal intensive care. INO Therapeutics operated from Clinton, New Jersey and maintained manufacturing operations in Port Allen, Louisiana. In 2007, the company was acquired from Linde and combined with Ikaria in a transaction valued at approximately $670 million. The INOmax franchise later became part of Ikaria and subsequently Mallinckrodt following Mallinckrodt's 2015 acquisition of Ikaria.
