Company intelligence / Profile preview
Inova Genomics Laboratory was a specialized diagnostic facility within the Inova Health System, primarily focused on pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine. The laboratory developed and marketed the MediMap suite of genetic tests, which aimed to predict patient responses to various medications, including treatments for ADHD, depression, and cardiovascular conditions. In April 2019, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning letter to the laboratory for marketing these tests without proper regulatory clearance. Consequently, Inova Health System announced the cessation of its proprietary genetic testing services and the closure of the laboratory's genomics operations. The facility was part of the broader Inova Translational Medicine Institute (ITMI), which sought to integrate genomic research into clinical care.
