Company intelligence / Profile preview
Impel Pharmaceuticals (formerly Impel NeuroPharma) is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing transformative therapies for central nervous system (CNS) disorders. The company's core technology is the Precision Olfactory Delivery (POD) platform, which is designed to deliver drugs to the vascular-rich upper nasal space for rapid and consistent absorption, bypassing the blood-brain barrier limitations of oral and traditional nasal routes. Their lead product, Trudhesa (INP104), was FDA-approved in 2021 for the acute treatment of migraine. Other pipeline candidates included INP105 for acute agitation and INP107 for Parkinson's disease. In late 2023, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and subsequently sold its assets, including Trudhesa and the POD technology, to Viatris in early 2024.
