InsectiGen is a biotechnology company that focuses on enhancing the effectiveness of biopesticides derived from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). The company's core technology, BT-Boost, utilizes specific cadherin-derived peptides to increase the potency of Bt toxins against a variety of insect pests. This platform is designed to overcome insect resistance and reduce the volume of pesticides required for crop protection. Beyond agriculture, InsectiGen has applied its technology to public health by developing solutions for controlling mosquitoes that transmit diseases such as Malaria and Dengue fever. The company was founded as a spin-off from the University of Georgia and was later acquired by AgBiome in 2013 to integrate its toxin-enhancement platform into a broader crop protection pipeline.
