IRESSEF (Institut de Recherche en Santé, de Surveillance Épidémiologique et de Formation) is a prominent private research institution and clinical research organization based in Senegal. Founded by Professor Souleymane Mboup, a co-discoverer of HIV-2, the institute specializes in infectious disease research, epidemiological surveillance, and clinical trial management. IRESSEF operates state-of-the-art laboratory facilities in Diamniadio and Dakar, serving as a regional hub for West Africa in the fight against diseases such as Ebola, HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis. The organization partners with global health entities, pharmaceutical companies, and academic institutions to conduct Phase I through Phase IV clinical trials. Its work is critical in developing and validating diagnostics and vaccines tailored to the needs of populations in the Global South.
