Institut Gentili is an Italian pharmaceutical company with a legacy spanning over a century, originally founded in Pisa in 1894. The company gained international prominence for its research in bone metabolism, notably contributing to the development of alendronate, a landmark treatment for osteoporosis. After being acquired by Merck & Co. (MSD) in 1997, the Gentili brand and operations were later integrated into the Neopharmed Gentili group following an acquisition by Mediolanum Farmaceutici in 2009.
