Institute for Developing Science and Health Initiatives

The Institute for Developing Science and Health Initiatives (ideSHi) is a non-profit biomedical research organization based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, dedicated to addressing public health challenges through scientific innovation. Founded by Magsaysay Award winner Dr. Firdausi Qadri, the institute specializes in the diagnosis and surveillance of infectious diseases and the study of genetic disorders. ideSHi operates advanced molecular laboratories that provide critical services such as newborn screening for inborn errors of metabolism and genomic sequencing for pathogens like SARS-CoV-2. Beyond research, the institute is a hub for capacity building, offering training programs to develop the next generation of scientists in the region. By collaborating with global health partners, ideSHi works to implement low-cost, sustainable health solutions in developing countries.
