The Institute for Medical Cannabis (IMC) is a vertically integrated medical cannabis company based in Puerto Rico, specializing in the cultivation, extraction, and formulation of pharmaceutical-grade cannabinoid therapies. Founded in 2016, it was the first facility in the Caribbean to receive the 'Clean Green' certification, ensuring its products are grown using sustainable and organic-based practices. The company operates a large-scale manufacturing and research facility in Ponce, where it develops proprietary cannabis strains (cultivars) targeted at conditions such as chronic pain, epilepsy, and PTSD. IMC collaborates with clinical research organizations to validate its products through human trials, notably its lead candidate CTL-X for acute pain. Its products are commercialized under the TuMedicina and Hi! Cannabis brands, ranging from flowers and concentrates to specialized formulations like transdermal lotions and suppositories.
